New update to our site!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

We have updated our site to help you get your job done easier.  This launch was primarily a response to customer feedback, which always helps us determine what to improve first.  Thanks for the feedback.

The recent launch introduces several customer-requested new features, including:

·       Latitude/Longitude information to download files in Family Tree and Company downloads

·       New data points – such as manufacturing indicator, rents/owns and square footage – to Company and People data downloads

·       Ability to create custom keyword Triggers (in addition to the existing company and industry Triggers)

·       List and table view options to the Company People page

The release also brings more parity with the classic site, with the addition of:

·       “Find Similar Companies”

·       Build A List enhancements

·       Biographies and more People to Company PDF reports

·       Unique user-generated job titles

Finally, the update includes some defect and bug fixes that will provide a better customer experience, like improved print formatting on Company records and speedier Build A List load times.

New Enhancements to our subscription website

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Enhancements to the new site that are part of this latest release include more than 20 additional Build A List (BAL) fields, some of which are on the classic site and some new to the BAL tool, based on customer input.

The People section within a company record has also been beefed up. Customers can now choose to view People just for that location, or that company and its subsidiaries, or that company’s entire Family Tree. For example, a customer could view People just at Hoover’s; or at Hoover’s, First Research and AllBusiness; or at D&B and all its companies.

Also new with Release 8 is the Resource Center, found by following a new tab at the top of the Home Page. The Resource Center is a one-stop shop for customers to learn what’s new on the site and how they can get the most value out of their Hoover’s subscription.

8 Digit SIC Codes Give Hoover’s Customers an Advantage

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Browse Industries in Build A List

Hoover’s customers now have access to the 8 digit SIC codes, accessible on each company overview page AND in the Build A List tool.  Why is this important?  Because the codes give users the ability to build lists and develop campaigns in far greater detail than before.  And with more than 65 million companies to choose from, the Hoover’s database provides a huge selection for customers.  Here’s an example:

Here are Build A List results from the 4 digit SIC code “7371: Custom Computer Programming Services”.  Almost half a million results.  A nice selection, but within this 4 digit code, there are quite a few different niche industries still.  The list could be qualified further, making the results more specific and therefore more actionable.  Now, here’s an example from an 8 digit code:

This code, “73710202: Computer Software Writers, Freelance” is much more specific and focused.  With 702 companies available in this list, a customer can develop a much more targeted marketing campaign than he could with the 4 digit code.

To recap: 8 digit SIC codes = awesome.
